Public education must be the top priority this election.

Equitable Funding

Indiana needs an equitable school funding formula that not only adequately funds all public school districts statewide, but also targets dollars to districts most in need based on factors such as poverty, trauma-informed data and socioeconomic status. No school should be penalized due to their ZIP code.

Increase Teacher Pay

Meaningful, across-the-board salary increases for all educators should be a top priority. Indiana ranks among the bottom of states for pay raises over the last decade. Adequate increases are necessary to attract and retain our best and brightest in the education profession. Significant salary increases are vital to remaining competitive in the Midwest and nationwide.

Reduce Testing

The full scope of the learning process and student achievement is based on far more than a single snapshot standardized test score. We have made progress on decoupling test scores from teacher performance evaluations. However, Indiana still bases numerous high-stakes consequences for schools and educators on state assessments.
